Pay will be determined based on location of selected individual.Anchorage, Soldotna, Wasilla salary: $3,535.20Fairbanks salary: $3,641.60Juneau salary: $3,712.00What you will be doing: This is a managerial position in the Solid Waste Program within ADEC. The position supervises four staff. The focus of this position will be management of staff working on rural municipal landfills (Class 3 landfills).Our organization, mission, and culture: The Solid Waste Program is the program responsible for the implementation of the State of Alaska solid waste regulations. Our mission is to protect public health and the environment by ensuring that landfills in Alaska are operated and maintained in compliance with State regulations and our Program’s goals. We strive to work cooperatively with landfill Operators and Owners on finding solutions through leveraging resources and working collaboratively with others in order to achieve the common goal of having a landfill that is protective of human health and the environment. The working environment you can expect: This position is being recruited statewide, and the position may be located in the Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau, Wasilla, or Soldotna DEC Offices. This position will have an assigned office. The incumbent will interact with Solid Waste staff in the Fairbanks, Juneau, and Anchorage offices.We are looking for a candidate that has experience in the following areas: Flexibility: Open to change and new information; is able to adapt behavior or work methods in response to new information, changing conditions, or unexpected obstacles; can effectively deal with uncertainty.Problem Solving: Able to identify problems, determine the accuracy and relevance of information, use sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and make recommendations.Oral Communication: Able to effectively express information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); able to make clear and convincing oral presentations; willing and able to listen to others, to attend to nonverbal cues, and to respond appropriately.Special Notice: Valid Driver's License requiredState of Alaska Enforcement Credentials are required (can be obtained after hire)
